How we work...
There is no such thing as a standard electric drive project. Hence, we approach every project individually. The description below shows typical steps for COTS, MOTS and FC projects. We usually recommend starting tests with COTS or MOTS, before moving to an FC project.
COTS (“Commercial-Off-The-Shelf”)
1. Pre-Sales Phase:
- 1
Make your selection from our portfolio of COTS standard products
- 2
Reach out to our sales team for quotation and clarification of any questions
2. Order Phase:
- 3
Order your COTS product
3. Production & Delivery:
- 4
We are running on a made-to-order production but have all long lead time items on stock, so that your COTS product can be assembled immediately
- 5
Your COTS product is typically shipped to you within ~2-6 weeks
MOTS (“Modified-Off-The-Shelf”)
1. Pre-Sales Phase:
- 1
If a COTS solution is not suitable, our sales team will send you a spec sheet and sign an NDA with you
- 2
You provide your requirements in the spec sheet
- 3
Our engineering team will review your requirements and decide if a MOTS solution is suitable (MOTS motors have the same mechanical design as COTS motors, but come with tailored winding and minor modifications. The winding of the motor determines the Kv (rpm/V) and allows for adapting the motor to the application requirements in terms of rpm and voltage range)
- 4
You will receive a quote for the MOTS product as well as engineering study
2. Electrical Design & Study Phase:
- 5
Our engineering team completes the electrical design of your MOTS solution
- 6
Based on our proprietary design and simulation tools, which utilize a huge database of actual dyno measurements, we provide highly accurate performance and thermal simulations
- 7
We may also support in determining the full propulsion system incl. ESC, propeller and accessories
- 8
We share our study results and ask for your sign-off
3. Production Phase:
- 9
Long lead time items are on stock, so that your MOTS solution can move directly to assembly
- 10
The MOTS solution is typically delivered to you within 6-8 weeks
4. Aftersales Phase:
- 11
Following testing and approval, we may move the MOTS solution to series production and agree a framework contract
- 12
Upon request we support with integration, documentation and/or spare parts
FC (“Fully Custom”)
Fully custom projects vary in terms of scope and can include smaller mechanical changes (e.g. shaft or housing) up to very complex ground-up custom developments. The below phases describe a complex development project
1. Pre-Sales Phase:
- 1
If a COTS or MOTS solution is not suitable, our sales team will send you a spec sheet and sign an NDA with you
- 2
You provide your requirements in the spec sheet and/or send us your RFI/Q
- 3
Our engineering team will review your requirements and decide if the FC solution can be provided by adapting an existing product or if a feasibility study is required for a ground-up development
- 4
You will receive a quote and/or ROM for your project
2. Electrical Design & Feasibility Study Phase:
- 5
In this phase we will assess the mechanical and electrical feasibilty
- 6
Our engineering team completes the electrical design of your FC solution
- 7
Based on our proprietary design and simulation tools, which utilize a huge database of actual dyno measurements, we provide highly accurate performance and thermal simulations
- 8
We may also support in determining the full propulsion system incl. ESC, propeller and accessories
- 9
Preliminary design review (“PDR”) and sign-off on the design
3. Development & Prototyping Phase:
- 10
Mechanical and electrical design teams perform their respective engineering work
- 11
Critical design review (“CDR”) and sign-off
- 12
Build-up of first prototype units and FAI
4. Testing & Qualification Phase:
- 13
Together with you we develop the test plan
- 14
We perform any environmental and/or other tests together with independent external laboratories
5. Integration:
- 15
Upon request we provide system integration and/or documentation support
6. Series Production & Aftersales Phase:
- 16
We agree to a mutual framework contract with you
- 17
We start the ramp-up of scale production
- 18
Upon request you receive aftersales support and spare parts
